I've stumbled upon a new world-

-of people doing fantastic intrumental/ folk covers to Daft Punk songs.

It boggles the mind.

I don't speak French

but this is wonderful.

It's a cover of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" except it's in FRENCH and it's FOLKish!
It made me smile :D

I hate lists...

Lists make things look so simple...

For instance- I have a list of over 60 new bands and singers that I have to check out.
It sounded so easy in my mind... Just go listen to a few songs, right? Gah. I'm like, only a little over 11 people in to the list, and I'm already kind of tired. I've discovered that I kinda don't like screamo at all. This is going to have to happen over a long period of time, I think.
...
Yay, something to do that makes me seem busy?

ANYwho.

I need to start doing things with my life

and be a responsible adult-like thing...

Bummer.

Alumni FunFunFun

So, spent the weekend at Lance's since he's in town from Walla Walla. Alex, Caitlin, Katie, and Jessie (briefly) were there as well. Yay, alumni!

It felt so weird going back to MVA. Caitlin & I were talking about how glad people seems to see you, even when you weren't really buddies with them at all. It's SO TRUE.

Of all the things I missed about MVA, it was the staff. I didn't get to see Mrs Castillo! What a bummer. Some other time.

Anywho. Saw people at church, went on a hike, explored town (after everything CLOSED on a SATURDAY NIGHT), and played Monopoly! It was fun.

OH AND I GOT MY CAMERA BACK.
The one that I thought was stolen?
The one that caused me a great deal of pain whenever I though of it
(and it's unknown whereabouts?)

GRANDMA HAD IT.
(not my grandmother- Grandma aka Mrs Keifer, cafeteria director lady)

SHE HAD IT THE WHOLE TIME.

Yeah, I got there and she was like, "OHAI I HAVE YOUR CAMERA" and I was like, "I kinda want to dance around you and hug you and kiss you, and I kinda want to punch you in the FACE."

But I have it now, and I am VERY VERY HAPPY.

THANK YOU, JESUS.

HURDY GURDY LADY

SHE'S SO COOL.

Melissa the Loud, a super-cool hurdy gurdy player, that I saw at Pennsic and decided was AWESOME.

Gah.

I have Owl City & The Title on repeat. They're so fun & cute. I feel like I'm listening to cotton candy, even when the sad songs come on ♥
At the moment, though, I'm feeling more like "Loveology" (Regina Spektor) or "Reminders of Then" (Kimya Dawson).

I know, I'm a complete music nerd.

ANY ways.

So, sorry DJ, but I totally fail at directions. I must be one of your expensive friends :D

In other news...

"Hearts aren't made of glass, they're made of muscle and blood and something else. And they don't so much as break as bend and tear. We have what it takes to keep it together; and move on."
From "Bikes and Bridges" by Defiance Ohio.

And I'm okay. Really.

Nothing new, (un)surprisingly

Pret-ty much.

I finally got Mickey outside! We walked to the elementary school that's close to our house. The road that it's on is under construction, so for a while I felt like we were in a bad apocalypse movie because of all the ruggedness & no cars.
Anywho.

Meg is back from Ireland, yay!

M&M&Ms

I seem to have a skill at making friends that tend to take care of me, in some way or another. It's an odd talent, but I feel it must be some sort of survival mechanism built into my DNA, seeing as how I'm so forgetful that I might have actually lost my mind by now if it wasn't securely attached to my spinal chord.

This interesting tidbit of information aside...

I was totally rocking out to jaded heartbreak music last night, and was doing fairly well at convincing myself that things even if things work out now there's no way I can prevent myself from getting hurt later, and isn't that the whole point of love (as Noah and the Whale would say, "now I look at love like being stabbed in the heart/ you torture each other from day to day, and then one day you part/ most of the time it's misery but there's some joy at the start/ and for that I'd say it's worth it, just use a blade that's short & sharp on me"), et cetera et cetera... Until Allison made me look up Owl City, and I mostly forgot all about that kind of thing and just rejoiced in the gloriousness of (as REM would say) "shiny happy people holding hands".

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

"Fireflies" is my favorite, so far. The music video is super adorable, but youtube won't let me embed it sooooooo...

Today I was painfully reminded that I tend to get migraines whilst shopping. I took Mickey to the thrift store so that he owned more than one pair of shorts & nice button up shirts.

Also...

I am still an idiot when it comes to romance. Normally someone has to actually be rejected or dumped to have their heart broken, but I manage to do it all by myself with only quite a bit of cowardice and some handy-dandy reasoning.
(That's why I was listening to the unhappy love songs)

OH!
Another self discovery-
Melancholies have a tendency to over-think things, right? Well I only tend to be melancholy about things that have already happened, so I have a habit of not thinking about what's currently going on AT ALL. It's turning out to be a sort of crippling weakness, actually. Being mostly-phlegmatic and then having a melancholy attack about it later.

Life goes on ♥

Back from Gloriousness

I love Pennsic, because so much amazing things happen to me there.

I worked at a merchant shop across the way, and my bosses were awesome.

There was always music somewhere. There was a hammer dulcimer guy that would set up and play randomly (along with his asstisant dancer lady), a lady playing a hurdy gurdy (with a baby strapped to her back!), sometimes bagpipes, guitars/lutes/ whatevers, bards (aka singers), some strange sounding instrument that I don't know the name of, and almost all the time there were dumbeks (a sort of drum). Wherever we went, there was music.

The violin and guitar-looking-thing part of a middle eastern jam session, which also included a clarinet, an accordion thing, and a ridiculous amount of drums.

The hammer dulcimer guy, looking quite chipper.

Hurdy gurdy lady! She opened it up and showed me how it works. Yay!

And performers!
They all came out during Midnight Madness, which is a sort of sale day that lasts until midnight. Anyways. Clan Tinker is so awesome ♥
I basically chilled with Mark, Melanie, Miles, Mickey, & Jess when I wasn't working (I know, right? So many M's!). Melanie & I have decided that we're twins, and not in a civil union (we had to decided between the two, because we couldn't do both ;_; ) We mostly played cards games, like Rummy or Egyption Rat Screw or Oh Hell (also known as Oh Shit, apparently) and also FLUXX (which Miles brought, of course) which was awesome, and Pente (which both Miles and Mark brought).

Jess (even though you can't see her face)

Mickey

(L to R) Me, Melanie, Miles, Mark

And of course there was the age old Holt Heroetes tradition of glowstick fireworks and Xena crepe night. The glowstick fireworks pictures didn't turn out, but I do have a picture of Xena and her assistant crepe-making chefs.

Xena wasn't out for very long, because it was VERY cold.

Like Iron Chef, except not.

SO ANYWAYS.

It was a grand time for all.
